Columbia University and MetaProp NYC, a real estate advisory and technology investment firm, are partnering to create a program for new tech startups in the real estate industry.

Starting in May, the program will last eight weeks and connect members of the real estate technology community with investors interested in the sector, the Wall Street Journal reports

Though the commercial real estate industry has been slow to adopt technology, it has been a huge disruptor, leading to an array of changes including smart buildings that use billions of Internet of Things-connected devices to function, e-commerce-driven industrial demand, increased effectiveness for brokers using automation, predictive analysis and so much more.

In addition to networking, the Columbia and MetaProp program will focus on business education, artificial intelligence and machine learning as they relate to real estate. The two organizations said the program aims to bring together real estate technology experts, academics and investors and will help startups expand their business networks and operations.
