Amazon unveiled a new feature this week allowing customers to pick up items within a few minutes of placing an order. The service launched Tuesday at five fully staffed locations near five college campuses in Los Angeles, Atlanta, Berkeley, College Park, Maryland, and Columbus, Ohio. Items available for pickup include snacks, personal care items, drinks, electronics and popular Amazon devices.
Instant Pickup is available to Prime and Prime Student members, who can use the Amazon App to order items that can be available from a self-service locker within two minutes or less. The instant pickup service will become available at more sites throughout the year. Amazon operates 22 staffed pickup locations on or near college campuses. Any Amazon customer can ship items to these locations and receive free same-day or one-day delivery.
