MORPHotel: The Cruise Ship With No Destination

A newly proposed hotel gives “wanderlust” a whole new meaning. MORPHotel is designed to drift around the ocean—an alternative to a cruise ship for those who don’t want steering or, frankly, an engine.

The proposal from designer Gianluca Santosuosso, a designer, says MORPHotel will be a system of boats linked together like railcars to make a “vertebral spine” that can adapt its shape to sites and weather conditions and periodically latch on to harbors before drifting off to its next port, Design Boom reports.

Gianluca wants to create a self-sufficient “artificial organism” filled with “tourizens” (a cross between tourists and citizens).

The hotel would include floating farms, rainwater collectors and solar panels, which is good, because the next landfall could be awhile. [DB]
