Over the past year typical Airbnb hosts in NYC made a median of $5.11k renting their space out for under five nights a month, the company shared in a blog post on Tuesday.

"We are making this data available to help policymakers craft smart rules for home sharing,” Airbnb says.

The post is a move to make nice with officials like New York AG Eric Schneiderman, who says that 72% of Airbnb rentals in New York City are illegal, Business Insider reports.

Last month Airbnb crushed Prop-F in S.F., which would’ve brought its business in that city to a halt. After the victory the company promised “to work with cities around the world on responsible rules for home sharing." [BI]
