The Real Estate Behind The Richest Men And Women In The World Part 1: Bill Gates

The richest man in the world's net worth recently hit a record $90B. According to Bloomberg, Bill Gates' net worth is equal to 0.5% of America's GPD.

In recognition of this landmark and to launch Bisnow's new series—The Real Estate Behind The Richest Men And Women In The World—we bring you the fabulous real estate of Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates.

Lake Washington Mansion

Bill's 66k SF mansion in Medina, WA, is worth about $150M and comes fit with high-tech features, including sensors that monitor a room's climate and lighting. The billionaire had the mansion built back in 1988 and bought the lot for roughly $1.9M.

California Horse Farm

In 2014, Bill bought Jenny Craig's farmhouse in Rancho Santa Fe, CA, for $18M. The 228-acre horse farm is studded with a horse training facility, several barns and an orchard—among other things.

Florida Homes

Earlier this year the billionaire closed on a $13.5M, 7k SF home in Wellington, FL—right across from his 3.5-acre ranch at 3155 Mallet Hill Court. That property came fit with a nearly 13k SF mansion that Bill picked up for $8.7M in 2013.

Grand Bogue Caye Island

With $90B in your pocket you've got some room to splurge, and splurge the billionaire has. It's speculated he owns a 314-acre island in Belize, Grand Bogue Caye, for which he reportedly paid $25M.

Four Seasons Holdings

The billionaire's personal investment firm, Cascade Investment, owns an assortment of assets and holds stakes in real estate companies, including nearly 50% of Four Seasons Holdings.
