IKEA Coming To Nashville By 2020

IKEA

The Swedish retail giant has made it official: There will be an IKEA in Nashville in about three years. The store will be part of a 310-acre mixed-use development called Century Farms off I-24. At 341K SF, it will be 70K SF larger than the only other IKEA in Tennessee, which opened in Memphis in December.

Work on the store will begin in the spring of 2019. New infrastructure, such as a new Hickory Hollow Parkway interchange off I-24, needs to be completed before IKEA can break ground, the Tennessean reports. IKEAs tend to be regional draws, which would be good news for Antioch, which suffered the demise of the old Hickory Hollow Mall.

IKEA has about 390 stores in 48 countries, including 43 in the United States. A dozen more, including the Nashville location, are in the works. The Music City IKEA will include 1,110 parking spaces and a 450-seat cafeteria and food market serving Swedish and American foods, as is usual with the brand.
