Change Healthcare Acquires Cloud-Based Medical Guidelines Provider

Change Healthcare has acquired National Decision Support Co., a specialist in cloud-based products that deliver medical guidelines to the point of care through electronic health record systems.

The addition of NDSC accelerates the growth of Nashville-based Change Healthcare, which the Nashville Business Journal reports is Nashville’s fifth-largest private company, employing more than 900 people locally.

"NDSC puts clinical intelligence in the hands of physicians and other clinicians as they are delivering care," Change Healthcare President and CEO Neil de Crescenzo said. "With ready access to medical guidelines, clinicians can make decisions that lead to better patient outcomes."

NDSC's flagship offering, CareSelect Imaging, delivers guidelines through a digital distribution license with the American College of Radiology. It will help meet the federal mandate requiring that clinicians consult Appropriate Use Criteria for imaging.

NDSC's portfolio also includes CareSelect Choosing Wisely, founded on the American Board of Internal Medicine's Choosing Wisely Initiative, and CareSelect Lab, based on a partnership with the Mayo Clinic.

NDSC employees will continue to operate from the company's offices in Madison, Wisconsin. The NDSC acquisition accelerates the planned expansion of Change Healthcare's operations in Madison.
