The Allen, a mixed-use development with a luxury hotel, condominiums, retail and office components, is projected to break ground next month, according to the Houston Business Journal. A filing on Texas' licensing and regulation website shows construction is set to start April 15.

DC Partners and Tianqing Real Estate Development LLC, the U.S. subsidiary of China-based Tianqing Group Real Estate Co. Ltd., are the developers behind the $500M project, according to the company's website. The Allen will be at 1711 Allen Parkway with views of Downtown and Buffalo Bayou Park

Thompson Hotels was tapped in 2017 to bring its fourth Texas property to The Allen. The hotel will be designed to be a lifestyle destination near downtown Houston and offer guests a locally inspired Texas experience that incorporates the Thompson-brand DNA, a spokesperson for Thompson Hotels wrote in an email.

Thompson Houston will feature 170 hotel rooms and about 95 condos. It will include an on-site ballroom, a chef-driven restaurant and bar, and an amenity deck with an outdoor pool, pool bar and cabanas. The opening date is set for 2022.

The Allen will also feature 200K to 250K SF of Class-A office space and a residential tower, Bisnow previously reported. HOK designed the overall master plan for the site.
