Lower Westheimer is a distinct mix of diverse business, important architecture and rich history. The funky neighborhood is tied to the foundation of Houston. That's why Rebuild Houston, the City of Houston’s initiative to improve the quality of life and mobility for residents of the city by rebuilding our drainage and street infrastructure, is holding a public hearing to hear from important community voices. 

The meeting will be Monday, June 6 at 6pm in St. Stephens Episcopal School's Gym at 1800 Sul Ross St. The meeting will focus on improvement plans and the city's pre-engineering study. The priority is to make the area more walkable and transit-friendly, which includes widening the street so the city's larger buses can fit down the corridor. The road is unlikely to get a bike lane, as plans to include one along Alabama are already moving forward. Whatever the outcome, the outspoken residents of Montrose will surely have their say.
