Vehicle giant Toyota (through Toyota Motors North America and Toyota Financial Services) and the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas created a $1M grant for nonprofits, academics and entrepreneurs to solve transportation mobility issues.

The grant will be used to implement a two-year program to tackle transportation and social mobility issues, such as transit access for low-income residents, seniors and people with disabilities. The grant will prioritize recipients who suggest programs with scalability. Following completion of the program, recipients will have the ability to partner with Toyota on future, related programs.

The grant aims to create public-private partnerships to solve local societal issues, Toyota Social Innovation general manager Mike Goss said in a statement.

More information about the grant will be released on Feb. 1.
