Construction Permit Issued For McDonald's West Loop HQ

110 North Carpenter, site of the former Harpo Studios campus in Chicago, will be the home to McDonald's new HQ.

The West Loop's most visible office development may be underway soon. The city issued a construction permit for Sterling Bay to build McDonald's new HQ on the former Harpo Studios site.

The project has been fast-tracked almost from the moment it was announced in June. The city issued a demolition permit for the site seemingly before the ink dried on the news of McDonald's move. And it's gotten bigger in scope: McDonald's and Sterling Bay expanded its footprint in the $250M, nine-story building to 500k SF.

The construction permit covers work on the building's foundation and a two-level, 300-car underground garage, according to Curbed. McDonald's will be completely vacated from its existing Oak Brook HQ in 2018. [Curbed]
