Self-Storage, Retail Hybrid Ready For Groundbreaking

Placeholder

It's mixed-use, but a new kind of mix: a self-storage project with retail near Uptown is breaking ground next month. Denver-based Pamlico Investments is developing the 117k SF property, called Belmont Mills, at the former Midwood Goods site at the intersection of 10th Street and Seigle Avenue. The project will include 8k SF of ground-floor retail, with the rest of the space given over to self-storage, the Charlotte Business Journal reports.

The Charlotte City Council voted last year to allow self-storage facilities within properties zoned for mixed-use development—provided there's commercial space on the ground floor. Now that kind of development is poised to take off. Belmont Mills is on a 1.4-acre site between Uptown and Plaza Midwood. Groundbreaking is slated for next month, with delivery in Q3 2017. The Chambers Group is leasing the retail space. [CBJ]
