CONFIDENCE CONTINUES DECLINE

| On all fronts, Mecklenburg County business leaders? expectations for Q4 2011 dropped from the start of Q3. All of the Q4 index values declined, with the largest in the national and local economic outlook. The areas where business leaders have some confidence, albeit small, is sales and profits for Q4, but both categories were still down from Q3. They're also taking a dim view of hiring and capital expenditures, UNCC?s Urban Institute?s Jonathan Kozar, an index author, tells us. Business leaders who responded to the survey represent a range of industries, including construction, manufacturing, retail, finance, and insurance. |
