One of the world's largest commercial real estate brokerages has created a new role to streamline operations across its U.S. businesses.
JLL announced Wednesday that it has appointed Mark Gibson as its inaugural U.S. country CEO. The brokerage has country CEOs in many of its other major markets, including Mexico, Africa, the Middle East, Spain and Sweden.

Gibson currently serves as JLL's CEO of capital markets Americas. He will be replaced in that role by Capital Markets Americas President Kevin MacKenzie. The transition is set for Jan. 1.
The new country CEO position “makes working across business lines more seamless,” the brokerage said in its release.
“In today's complex operating environment, companies are looking to fewer, more strategic partners to advise them across their entire real estate portfolio,” JLL President and CEO Christian Ulbrich said. “The Country CEO, U.S. will be central to delivering the expertise and scale our clients require.”
He added that Gibson has a “strong track record of building lasting relationships with clients” and “is uniquely positioned to bring the full breadth of JLL to every one of them.”
Gibson has been JLL’s CEO of capital markets Americas for seven years. He was previously CEO of HFF until JLL acquired the firm in 2019.
“I've always said that this is a team sport,” Gibson said. “The real estate landscape today is too complex and nuanced for any one person to offer what our clients need at scale; fortunately, at JLL, we have the brightest experts across every real estate discipline.”
JLL will release its third-quarter earnings on Oct. 28. During the second quarter, the brokerage nearly doubled its profits, compared to the same period in 2025, with a net income of $215.6M. Drivers of that included revenue increases of 24% from its leasing business and 19% from its capital markets business.
Last year, JLL made $26.1B in revenue. The brokerage operates in more than 80 countries with 113,000 employees worldwide.
