A GOOD SIGN

The familiar JFG Coffee sign, once a warm greeting to motorists passing uptown Charlotte, just got a new perch overlooking theMusic Factory in Fourth Ward. For almost 40 years, the sign overlooked the interstates near uptown, but it was taken down in November. It's being spared courtesy of a Knoxville, Tenn.-based beverage company, Historic Charlotte Inc. and Music Factory ownerNoah Lazes. At a price ?north of $20,000,? JFG is paying to restore the sign and relocate it atop Lazes? hip entertainment complex, says JFG?s Mary-Wanda Fandino. Mecklenburg County recently approved a zoning change to locate the sign on Lazes? property.
