BRAC TO THE FUTURE

BRAC TO THE FUTURE
BRAC, we love you but there's a new game in town: CyCom. To understand that, we chatted with the only guy in CRE who has something in common with Rodney Dangerfield, the Defense Information Systems Agency, and CB Richard Ellis.
BRAC TO THE FUTURE
That would be Joe Ruzecki, of course. He handles the B-W Corridor for CBRE with Dan Callihan, and his boat's named "the Seafood", after the one Rodney captained in Caddyshack. Joe also happens to be a bona fide expert on all things Ft. Meade. He says BRAC has resulted in DISA, the Military Adjudication Activities group (hint: lawyers), and the Defense Media Activities HQ combining to create 6,000 jobs, and $300M and 1.3M SF in construction at the Fort. In the future, Joe expects the arrival of the US Cyber Command (its duties include defending the .mil domain name—cool right?) to bring a rising tide of jobs and space requirements to the area. The agency is technically a part of the NSA, and he says it'll eventually attract private companies looking to defend their websites: ?All the brainpower they need is right here.? We bet he gets respect.
