STEM School Opening in Reston

Placeholder

Reston will soon be home to a STEM-based private school for kids in grades 4-8. Ideaventions Academy for Mathematics and Science, opening this fall, claims to be the only elementary/middle school in the country to require computer science as part of its core curriculum. The groundbreaking is May 18, according to Reston Patch. Classes will include computer science, engineering, cellular biology, and iOS and Android app development. The school was started by Juliana and Ryan Heitz (pictured), a husband-and-wife team (and graduates of Thomas Jefferson HS for Science and Technology), who opened a teaching science center in 2010 called Ideaventions.
