Every year Canvas, a Reston-based mobile app development platform, encourages its employees to donate their tech skills and Canvas products to a social cause anywhere in the world. This year’s Ante Up award went to Mums Group, a volunteer-run nonprofit network in Australia that collects and refurbishes donated baby equipment and provides it to needy families. Canvas CEO James Quigley bestowed the award to Jessica Macpherson of St. Kilda Mums, which is part of Mums Group, last week at the Australian Embassy.

Canvas is also celebrating a strong 2015. The 8-year-old company has over 50,000 paid subscribers worldwide and grew revenue 90% and head count 70% to close 2015 with 70 employees. The company’s Reston-based 10k SF co-working space, Refraction (above), is expanding to double the number of startups from 33 and dedicating 10% of the space to nonprofits.
