UMD Buys Frat House, to Replace it with Student Housing

Placeholder

More student housing is coming to College Park. The University of Maryland announced last week that it has bought the former frat house of Sigma Chi near campus with plans to redevelop it into student and faculty housing. The property is 0.8 acres at the corner of Norwich Road and Princeton Avenue, just behind Fraternity Row. The building has been abandoned since 2001, when the local chapter was disbanded, and a fire wreaked havoc on it in 2004. The alumni chapter used Colliers to broker the deal with the university, and the terms of the sale were not disclosed. College Park is exploding with development, with thousands of units of student and non-student housing on the way.
