The Oscars and DC Real Estate

As those of you who are sleepy today from staying up too late know, 12 Years a Slave took home Best Picture last night. And it's not just a popular flick with the Academy, but with DC real estate pros, too. We polled some on Friday for their picks, and several, including Delta Associates CEO Greg Leisch, were pulling hard for it.

Property Group Partners' Bob Braunohler is a fan of two of last night's acclaimed but somehow empty-handed nominees, The Wolf of Wall Street and American Hustle. Bob says Christian Bale did "a fabulous job" playing con artist Irving Rosenfeld. In more award-winning news, Bob also tells us PGP is hoping to break ground this month on the first phase of construction for the firm's Capitol Crossing project over top of 395.

Tom Papadopoulos tells us his favorite flicks are two classics: "Godfather I and II. Period." And judging by that poster behind Tom in his Dupont Circle office, we believe him. Speaking of Hollywood, Tom says he just brokered a lease with Beverly Hills-based Mastro's Steakhouse for the former M&S Grill space at 600 13th St.
