Real Estate Gives Back

In honor of today's JDRF Real Estate Games at American U (which we'll have full coverage of tomorrow), we thought we'd take a look at other ways DC's real estate world is giving back. Last week, the team from Akridge volunteered at the Capitol Area Food Bank in Northeast DC. The Akridge folks tell us they pre-sorted 2,600 pounds of donations, boxed 15,000 pounds of food that will be added to the Food Bank's online ordering menu, and raised $8,000 that'll help the Food Bank provide an additional 20,000 meals. Not bad for a day's work.

In May, Serten Advisors also spent a day at the Capitol Area Food Bank. Snapped here with a volunteer from the CAFB: Serten's Jon Wagner, David Scheinberg, Steve Hubberman, Paul Schweitzer, Kathy Lesiuk, Craig Romm, Michael Rubin, Adam Schindler, Maribeth Colberg, and David Kaizer.

Last week, the gang from Transwestern spent a day assisting Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County with a townhome development in Gaithersburg. The project, Maple Hill, is scheduled to deliver this summer, and will bring 19 affordable townhomes to the county. Here's Transwestern's Robin Williams, Nick Bartel, Katie Rubino, Keith Foery, Sabina Gill, Justin Shay, Don Wilson, Tom Hilley Jr., Kristin Luviano, and Dean Sigmon. How is your firm giving back this year? Let Chris Baird know.
