PN Hoffman to Give Historic Fish Market a Boost

Placeholder

The oldest operational fish market in the country is going to be getting a major upgrade as part of the neighboring mega-project, The Wharf. Hoffman-Madison Waterfront, the JV between PN Hoffman and Madison Marquette, has a 99-year lease on the Maine Avenue Fish Market, and is planning to to add a rum distillery, market pavilion and market hall. The plan has tons of outdoor seating to facilitate a wholly active street level, but will be respectful of the barge-based market's history, the Washington Business Journal reports. Plans have already been submitted to the Commission of Fine Arts, which appears receptive to the idea, and Monty Hoffman hopes for it to be finished within two years, when Phase 1 of The Wharf is ready.
