JK Moving Planning New 450k SF HQ In Loudoun

The region’s largest privately owned mover will put its moving skills to the test, this time with its own stuff, when the company packs up and moves its HQ to a new planned campus in Loudoun County.

The company plans to construct over 450k SF of office and warehouse space on 42 prime acres it acquired back in November for $9.7M. The site lays between Route 28 and Shaw Road, and fronts the north side of Route 606, the Washington Business Journal reports.

Plans call for a $55M HQ project that will include an 80k SF office building to be designed by MGMA, plus four warehouse buildings spanning 110k SF each. JK currently makes its home just off Route 606 west of the Dulles Greenway at the Mercure Business Park, where it plans to maintain a presence, construct another 80k SF office building, and lease the remaining 220k SF to other companies. The company has surged in growth of late, and plans to add another 150 employees this year.

JK Moving is the latest area employer to announce plans to expand in its familiar surroundings of Loudoun County. Back in December, Carfax announced plans to invest $10.8M to upgrade its data center operations in Loudoun. [WBJ]
