ULI ACTION!

Washington, D.C.
ULI ACTION!

A record 900 turned out for the 10th Annual ULI Washington Trends Conference at the Reagan Center yesterday. Rob Speyer told of Tishman Speyer’s global push into India, and investor Victor MacFarlane about his willingness to pay for the land and soccer stadium at Poplar Point in return for being made the area's master developer.RCLCO’s Gadi Kaufmann and his panel felt the housing market is bottoming out, that homebuilders will have pricing power again in ’09, and that massive subprime foreclosures won’t happen because Fannie andFreddie are stepping in. Overall, chair Ron Gart said, everyone still feels the DC real estate market is strong because of those good old feds and jobs, jobs, jobs. But enough substance, we specialize in the reception scene:

We always get those Forrester brothers confused, but David, the prez, has been spending a lot of his time on design/build for two whole campuses: Loudoun Country Day School and Washington Christian Academy in Montgomery County.

West Group's Larry Hanes, Kenwood Management's Phil Ackley, and Buvermo Properties' Laurey Millspaugh. Laurey took his family for spring break to Yosemite, Muir Woods, and Squaw Valley—and to Napa Valley, but only to visit cousins, not drink wine! Similarly, Larry took his family to Canton, Ohio—but not to see the NFL Hall of Fame, just visit relatives. Phil’s excitement? He’s an instructor in racing cars. Who knew?

Dorsky Hodgson Parrish Yue's (that's a law firm) Susie Zusy. We include this because you won’t believe how "Zusy" (an Alsatian name) is pronounced. Yep, to rhyme with Suzie! Definitely the favorite name we ran into last night.
