To Tweak The Privacy Act
When trying to get your way, 'tis better to have an army rather than a single knight. The Information Technology and Innovation Foundation has sought muscle with several think tanks and advocacy groups to convince Congress that the Electronic Communications Privacy Act needs an update this year. The law passed in '86 to establish rules for government access to electronic communications in criminal investigations. The group wants the same protections for data stored in the cloud. They say Sen. Patrick Leahy is already on board.
