Social Entrepreneurs Chosen For Halcyon

Placeholder

The Halcyon Incubator, a DC-based program for social entrepreneurs to grow their ideas, has chosen its first class of seven residents, and it’s a wide mix. Be Girl founder Diana Sierra will be helping girls in Africa get sanitary feminine products. Datasembly founders Ben Reich and Dan Gallagher will be aggregating and indexing open government data. The class will move into S&R Foundation’s Georgetown mansion and start the 14-month fellowship program in September. The other social enterprises include: PureJoy (organic baby food for all income levels); Ecoviate (environmental technologies); Ideal Impact (online platform to bring together volunteers and organizations in need); Control A+ (early warning system for asthmatic children); and NewsEase (online news initiative for teachers and students.)
