5 Nonprofits Looking For New Leaders

One thing that will never change in DC is the coming-and-going of executives. We found several large trade groups looking for new leadership, spanning from those representing fragrance makers to scientists studying cell biology. 

1. International Food Information Council and IFIC Foundation

Position: President and CEO
Organization: Shares science-based information on food safety and nutrition. Supported by food, beverage and agricultural industries. The IFIC Foundation was created in ’91 as its educational arm, which worked with Harvard School of Public Health to develop guidelines for new health and science research. 
Location: DC
Current leadership: David Schmidt, CEO, and Kimberly Reed, president 
Challenge: Lead the organization during a transformative time and focus on relationship-building with members and key stakeholders, strategic and organizational change management, growing revenue, and strategic communications, marketing and technology.

2. American Sociological Association

Organization: Founded in 1905, ASA has 12,000 members and advances sociology as a scientific discipline and profession serving the public good.

3. American Society for Cell Biology

Organization: Advances scientific discovery, advocates sound research policies, improves education, promotes professional development and increases diversity in the scientific workforce.
Location: Bethesda, MD
Current leadership: Stefano Bertuzzi
Challenge: Chart a strategic course for ASCB, bring strong leadership, management of staff, improve current and develop new innovative revenue models, and serve as persuasive advocate and communicator to the scientific community, policymakers, industry groups and funding organizations.

4. American Immigration Council

Organization: Educates the public about the contributions of immigrants, stands up for immigration policies, pushes for immigration laws to be enacted and implemented to honor constitutional and human rights and works to achieve justice and fairness for immigrants.  
Location: DC
Current leadership: Benjamin E. Johnson
Challenge: Serve as the public face of the council, including representing the organization before external constituencies, including the American Immigration Lawyers Association. Other duties include hiring and developing staff, managing daily work and decisions, building a working relationship with the board, and develop and implement new concepts and ideas.

5. International Fragrance Association North America

Organization: Represents fragrance material industry in US and Canada. Member companies create and manufacture fragrances for personal care, home care and home design products.

Challenge: Oversee strategic direction, advocacy and public policy and communications. Also serve as the public face of the organization, provide thought leadership, board relations and staff development and administration.
