Bisnow spoke with RKF Canada president Steven Alikakos, whose firm is finalizing their Canadian HQ in Toronto (expected move-in is May 1). RKF is the big US-based retail leasing, sales and consulting service that expanded to Canada in December, working with US-based retailers looking to expand to Canada.

Steven, snapped with RKF CEO Robert Futterman, says, “There are more leads and interest in Canada than I’ve ever imagined.” That includes all the major markets, in particular Vancouver, meaning a Vancouver office is on the radar after they solidify their presence in Toronto. “Vancouver has come back in a strong way,” he says. “There’s a really strong and good vibe on the street now. Robson has really come alive.” Steven points to the expansion of enclosed malls and outdoor centres in B.C. as a response to retailers clamouring for space. (Give them retail space or give them death! Actually just give them the retail space, that's easier for all of us.) “We are definitely doing business [in B.C.] now,” he says.
