Paving A Greener Road

The mega-trend forging new roads in Europe is now gunning its way to the United States. TrueGrid founder Barry Stiles tells us that his permeable paving product offers a superior paving solution for parking lots, roadways, driveways, fire lanes, and most other paving applications. Filled with gravel or grass, it costs less than traditional concrete or asphalt (up to 50% less, and it lasts longer), and functions as a detention device. It eliminates or reduces the need for a detention pond, saving construction and land costs. TrueGrid is eco-friendly from manufacture to end use (100% post-consumer recycled HDPE plastic and helps cleanse the stormwater from vehicle pollutants). Barry adds that it’s also a natural aesthetic, replacing unsightly concrete. Developers and investors love it because they can buy less land for their projects than if they use asphalt or concrete. Customers like Whole Foods and the US Army are on board. A mandate from the Environmental Protection Agency is coming soon, so be ahead of the curve.
