About $3.5B in public and private investments are building Cumberland, says CID director Malaika Rivers. This includes the recent announcement of $101M in county and state money aimed for infrastructure. That’s a very big win, Malaika says, among the many victories chalked up by Cumberland this year. Of the $1.5B in client investments currently making their way through zoning: 10 offices, 21 residential developments, six hotels and nine retail establishments. In particular, Highwoods and Seven Oaks broke ground on Riverwood 200 (pictured), which will be a 251k SF office space, due to open in 2017. Across Cumberland Boulevard will be the Alexan residential development, with 300 units under construction, to be delivered this year. The total value of permits in the CID is $86M, and nearly $66M of that is commercial, making Cumberland by far the lion’s share of the Cobb County action.
