Carried interest legislation is carrying investors’ interests, says Smith & Howard partner Mark Abrams. He says it’s a vital consideration in how you structure your investments, and developers have been able to use it to take advantage of capital gains rates. The trade-off: compensation arrangements for carried interest in order to get a slice of the pie on the back end. Will that change? Stay tuned.
