Google has expanded its reach into North San Jose, renting two buildings totaling about 174k SF. The Mountain View-based company already has offices in Redwood City, Sunnyvale and Palo Alto.

Google leased around 40k SF at 2460 North First St in San Jose in the spring. Now, it will have offices at 75 E Trimble Rd (about 96k SF) and 2600 North First St (78k SF) as well (the buildings outlined in the square above).

Just down North First Street, Apple has 86 acres that could hold a 4.15M SF campus, according to the Silicon Valley Business Journal. North San Jose has grown in popularity as space in prime markets has grown increasingly scarce and more expensive. Deals underway could push the area's office and R&D vacancy rate below 10%. [SVBJ]
