VR Company Oculus Takes 100k SF In Redmond

Oculus VR, maker of the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset, has leased more than 100k SF of office and warehouse space in Willows Commerce Park II in Redmond, according to Kidder Mathews. The space is larger than the combined volume of Oculus' Seattle office in SoDo and another space the company occupies in Willows Commerce Park II.

The expansion by Oculus—owned by Facebook—points to the Puget Sound region and especially the Eastside as a hub of the growing VR and augmented reality industry, the Puget Sound Business Journal reports.

Besides Microsoft, Bellevue-based video game company Valve is working on HTC Vive, a VR product, and startups VRcade and Atomic VR call the region home. Valve leased more than 147k SF of office and warehouse space in Kirkland earlier this year. [PSBJ]
