Amazon Buys More Downtown Property; More Space May Be In Works

Placeholder

Another day, another real estate move by Amazon. The retail behemoth recently paid more than $19M for two adjacent properties in Downtown Seattle, the Puget Sound Business Journal reports. The two parcels form a half block on the west side of Seventh Avenue, between Blanchard and Bell streets.

What will the retailer do with the site? So far it's mum about any plans, but the parcels, which are across the street from the company's recently opened Day One tower, are zoned for non-residential towers as tall as 340 feet.

Any tower built on the site would be Amazon's fifth in Seattle. Currently two are finished and another is underway. The company has plans for a fourth building on a neighboring block. Amazon employs about 35,000 people in Washington state. [PSBJ]
