The Seattle Seahawks and construction, energy services, and facilities management firm McKinstry are recognizing "Champions of Sustainability" during the 2014 football season. The program recognizes entities taking forward-looking actions to reduce energy use and waste in the built environment. Each Champion will be hosted by McKinstry at a Seahawks home game this season and presented with an award. Other champions this year include Avista Corp, the GSA, Vulcan Real Estate, GLY Construction, Lydig Construction, Seattle University, and the Gresham-Barlow School District. Last week, before the Seahawks bested the Broncos (once again), McKinstry held a tailgate party to celebrate its “Cheers for Charity,” a friendly competition between their Seattle and Denver offices that raised $13,000 for charity through employee contributions, benefiting 826 Seattle and Washington Business Week locally and Griffith Centers for Children in Colorado. Blitz was on hand to throw in a few cheers of his own.
