AMG & Associates and The Pacific Cos are taking a new tack with Phase 2 of their Richmond Transit Village-Metro Walk project, growing the scope of the project to include from 300 to 800 market-rate and affordable apartment units.

The project, near the Richmond BART station (that's the transit center above), built 132 condos, retail and parking in Phase 1. Phase 2 included an additional 99 condos, but plans have shifted to create apartments instead for workers and seniors, with at least 30% of those affordable, according to the San Francisco Business Times. (The developers have plans for East Oakland as well.)

Construction could begin in two years. The developers plan to apply for state Prop 1C funds that support high-density transit-oriented development. The project also needs BART and city approval. [SFBT]
