This week the City of Hayward broke ground on three new residential communities at the site of the former South Hayward BART overflow parking lots. Eden Housing will develop two affordable communities with 151 units off Mission Boulevard and AMCAL Equities will develop a 206-unit market-rate community site off Dixon Street. Both got TOD grants from the California Department of Housing and Community Development. Here's the shovel crew, which included the president of the BART board and mayor Barbara Halliday.
