Equity Residential just broke ground on its 449-unit apartment building in the Design District. The project at 8th & Brannan streets will deliver in spring 2017 and is expected to be LEED Platinum—thanks to the 1,000 photovoltaic solar panels. Top amenities for the project include a redwood grove, roof deck for residents and multiple terraces, in addition to 3k SF of retail that will be leased to a local nonprofit that supports low-income entrepreneurial chefs and startup food businesses. Nearby in SoMa, Equity's also got the One Henry Adams multifamily development in Showplace Square.
