Mayor: Oakland Has Land Needed For Raiders To Stay

The Oakland Raiders might be seeking a new stadium anywhere from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, but Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf says their best bet is staying home.

Libby says the team could make use of the roughly 100 acres around the O.co Coliseum where the Raiders and Oakland A's play. With $100M from the NFL toward a new stadium, it could push the Raiders toward staying, according to the San Francisco Business Times.

The mayor would like to see the Oakland A's move to a new stadium (a preferred spot, at least from the city's perspective, would be at the waterfront), freeing the Raiders to build a new stadium at the O.co Coliseum site. The city would not provide public funding to build a new stadium, Libby has said. [SFBT]
