Energy Tech Company Expands Into Alameda

Kairos Power has signed a new 55,757 SF lease at West Tower 9 in Alameda. Cushman & Wakefield represented srmErnst Development Partners and the tenant for the lease at 707 West Tower Ave. The energy technology and engineering company is based in Oakland. It currently leases 5K SF at 580 Second St., according to the East Bay Times. The company is developing nuclear energy technology and looking for alternatives to natural gas generation.

West Tower 9 is a 1940s hangar/manufacturing building undergoing full refurbishment, designed by architectural firm Forge, on the former Naval Air Station at Alameda Point. The building is part of the revitalization of Alameda Point that includes the adjacent 68-acre $500M mixed-use development.

The project will be developed in three phases and includes 800 multifamily units, retail and restaurants, manufacturing space, a full-service hotel, a 15-acre park and a waterfront plaza. A new ferry terminal will be built less than five minutes from West Tower 9 and is expected to begin service in 2019-2020.
