Popular grocery chain Wegmans has plans for a new D.C.-area location in southern Loudoun County, continuing its rapid expansion in the region.

Wegmans is under contract to acquire a piece of Arcola Center for a new store, two county supervisors told the Washington Business Journal Tuesday.

There is no timeline for construction of the new store, and the supervisors said Wegmans wants to wait at least two years until after next summer's opening of its new store in Chantilly, roughly nine miles from the Arcola Center site.

Wegmans will anchor Hoffman Town Center in Alexandria beginning in 2021, StonebridgeCarras announced last week. The Rochester-based chain also announced its first location in D.C. proper earlier this year when it signed on to anchor Roadside's Fannie Mae HQ redevelopment.
