An experiential video game retail concept called Beat The Bomb is booming, with plans to open new locations in Atlanta and Washington, D.C.

New York-based Beat The Bomb, which describes itself as "the world's first immersive social video game company," is launching a 50-location expansion, starting with the two cities the company announced Tuesday. Its spaces feature rooms with a series of games using screens, motion sensors and laser maze hardware.

Its first new location is at a Jamestown-owned property in Atlanta's Upper Westside. The second location is scheduled to open in Douglas Development's Hecht Warehouse district this winter. Beat The Bomb is based in Brooklyn.

In the final room of a typical 1-hour challenge, teams of four to six players wearing hazmat suits have to disarm a "paint bomb" before it explodes. Beat The Bomb recently raised $7M from Conversion Venture Capital, Otium Capital and several other investors.

The 10K SF D.C. location, at 2003 Hecht Ave. NE, is planned to feature Beat The Bomb's signature games, plus a beer garden and The Bomb Bar, slated to feature cocktails, slushies and some food options.

Once the Atlanta location is operational, the company also plans to allow digital gameplay between locations.

"Most video games isolate a person with their gaming device," Beat The Bomb CEO and founder Alex Patterson said in a statement. "At Beat The Bomb, we set out to build an immersive real world video game platform and multiplayer games that would drive shared memories and stronger relationships among the players."

Joe Fleischmann of KLNB represented the tenant, and the landlord was represented by KLNB's Michael Pratt.
