The plan to turn the old McMillan Sand Filtration Site into a mixed-use district got a shot in the arm last week when one of the developers, Jair Lynch, signed Harris Teeter to a letter of intent. The full lease won't be signed for nine to 12 months, the developer told ANC commissioners in a letter, but the high-end grocer has committed to opening a 53k SF store on the ground floor of Parcel 4, with apartments on top. The development, one of the megaprojects we highlighted earlier this summer, will include 1M SF of medical office space, 146 townhouses, 531 apartments, 30k SF of neighborhood retail and a 17k SF community center.
