Dean & DeLuca To Open Second DC-Area Location In Bethesda

Bethesda fans of Georgetown's unique retail options soon won't have to leave home for a taste of the grocery market's uppermost crust.

Dean & Deluca will open its second DC-area gourmet food market in a three-floor, 14k SF space at JBG's 4749 Bethesda Ave in 2017. Dochter & Alexander Retail represents the grocer, which is considering other opportunities for expansion in the region.

"We have other opportunities we’re evaluating," DA co-founder Dave Dochter tells Bisnow. "We’re just very selective with our real estate."

Dave, on the left with partner Matt Alexander, has worked on the Bethesda deal for the last year and says it is going to be a flagship location for the brand and it will be "unlike anything that exists in Bethesda."

The layout will encompass the first floor for a market and restaurant, a portion of the second floor and the rooftop for an outdoor wine garden. JBG brought on New York architect Morris Adjmi to design the building.

"It’s going to be an amazing Dean & Deluca in one of the coolest buildings in the entire region," Dave says.
