Cat lover Nyree Wright has already raised $2k toward her $65k Indiegogo goal to open up a cat café. The café would allow cat lovers to enjoy wine and other refreshments while they spend time with featured shelter cats up for adoption. Cat cafés are a growing trend, and apparently a helpful one. DC's first cat café, Crumbs & Whiskers, has already adopted out 23 cats since it opened two months ago. Wright is teaming up with Alexandria city officials to find a location. She's also researching cat rescue/shelter partners and regulations regarding operating a café/wine bar with cats. [Patch]
