WMATA appears to be planning a Northern Virginia office hub on Alexandria's Eisenhower Avenue corridor as part of its regional consolidation.

The transit agency filed plans with Alexandria's Carlyle Design Review Board for a nine-story office building with a four-story parking podium at 2395 Mill Road, the Washington Business Journal reports.

The building would include 297K SF of office space and 233 parking spaces, plus a rooftop terrace and a green roof area. The property sits less than a half-mile from the Eisenhower Avenue Metro station. WMATA is working with McGuire Woods on the proposal, which the board is scheduled to consider April 25.

WMATA in October announced plans to move its headquarters from the Jackson Graham Building in Chinatown to 300 Seventh St. SW in L'Enfant Plaza. It also signaled plans to acquire office buildings in Virginia and Maryland to consolidate several offices it leases around the region.

The agency released a request for proposals earlier this month for developers to redevelop the Jackson Graham Building site under a long-term ground lease. WMATA expects its regional consolidation plan will save $130M over the next 20 years.
