One of the leaders of Tishman Speyer's D.C. office leasing team has left to join a brokerage firm.

Tony Womack, a 30-year D.C. commercial real estate veteran, tells Bisnow he will begin working at Transwestern next week.

Womack, who also serves as chairman of NAIOP Northern Virginia, will be an executive vice president in Transwestern's Tysons office. He will work with the firm's agency leasing team to represent D.C.-area office owners, with a focus on the Northern Virginia market.

"I think it's a good opportunity in my career path right now," Womack said. "I was fortunate to work for Tishman Speyer for 12 years, and I'm looking forward to working with a similarly fine company in Transwestern. I think culturally they're both very collaborative companies, which I appreciate and enjoy being a part of."

Womack has spent the last 12 years at Tishman Speyer, where he and Andrew Eichberg jointly led the leasing effort for the firm's D.C.-area office portfolio. He previously worked for brokerage firms Grubb & Ellis and Spaulding & Slye, and he said his time with a developer gives him a new perspective to bring to Transwestern.

"It's going to enable me to bring things to the table for owner clients that normal brokerage does not give you, the tools which I learned at Tishman Speyer," Womack said. "It's more than leasing, there's asset management, portfolio management, and how does any one individual asset sit in the overall portfolio."

The hire is the latest in a series of major additions for Transwestern in the D.C. region. In September, the firm brought on structured finance brokers Andrew Asbill and Trevor Campbell from JLL. In 2018, the firm hired Joe Ritchey, the leasing broker at Reston Town Center for three decades.

"Tony Womack is one of the most accomplished senior leasing executives in the Northern Virginia Market," Transwestern Executive Managing Director Phil McCarthy said in a statement provided to Bisnow. "The extensive brokerage knowledge and Tishman Speyer experience he holds are crucial differentiators in terms of his ability to advise Northern Virginia landlords. He is a game changer and a perfect cultural match for Transwestern."
