Longtime broker Joe Ritchey has joined Transwestern.

The legendary Northern Virginia broker who leased the office space at Reston Town Center is joining Transwestern.

Joe Ritchey, founder of brokerage and consulting firm Prospective Inc., represented Boston Properties for nearly three decades in leasing the office component of the pioneering mixed-use development. He joins Transwestern as executive vice president and will focus on leasing office components of Northern Virginia mixed-use projects.

Ritchey, the brother of Boston Properties Executive Vice President Ray Ritchey, leased Reston Town Center since it opened in 1990 and achieved rents up to $20/SF higher than nearby properties. It has famously been 100% occupied for years.

"I experienced many challenges and triumphs working on Reston Town Center, and it was incredibly satisfying to work on a project of that magnitude from start to finish," Ritchey said in a release. "I'm very proud of my work in Reston and ready to apply that experience to new developments with Transwestern. After nearly three decades working on my own, I'm thrilled to join a company with vast regional and national resources."

While he is known for his work at RTC, Ritchey has also represented Mobil Land Development Corp., Hazel/Peterson Cos. and Walt Disney Imagineering in leasing and consulting on office components of mixed-use projects.

"Joe is a legend in the Washington metro commercial real estate industry," Transwestern Executive Managing Director Phil McCarthy said. "He will add tremendous value to the Transwestern team and serve as an incredible resource and mentor for our young professionals."
