Fresh off a $40M renovation, the office building at 1800 K St. NW is preparing to welcome a big new tenant.

Bank of America signed on for three full floors, roughly 62K SF, in a deal that closed March 31. The deal, included in Colliers' second-quarter market report, was confirmed by CBRE, the firm that represents the landlord. BofA plans to move in Oct. 1.

Deutsche Asset Management acquired the 217K SF building in 2006 for $98M. It then decided in 2014 to launch a major repositioning effort to bring the building up to trophy status, installing a new glass façade, renovating the lobby and adding a fitness center and a rooftop deck.

As of August 2016, the building had 172K SF of available space and was seeking rents in the $70/SF range. CBRE welcomed roughly 100 commercial real estate professionals Monday to see the newly renovated rooftop deck for its solar eclipse viewing party.
