Since we've been gone (can you tell Kelly Clarkson is writing our material?), two big stories broke in DC real estate, including the official announcement of the Washington Post's new lease at 1301 K St. Publisher Katharine Weymouth (at a Bisnow event last year) and new owner Jeff Bezos opted for an existing building over a new one, despite being actively wooed by developers in NoMa and Capitol Riverfront. The Post will move to a Hines-owned building in 2016 and will have signage, according to, well, the Post.

Also over the past few days, Mayor Gray finalized the city's business agreement with DC United on the team's new 20k SF Buzzard Point stadium in Southwest. The terms call for the city to provide up to $150M in acquisition and infrastructure costs for the $300M project, which United will build. The mayor has also reached agreement in principle with landowners holding the remaining parcels on the site, though the deals are not final.
